Peel P-50

Many of us here are avid Top Gear fans and have more than likely seen Jeremy Clarkson drive his 1962 Peel P-50, the Worlds Smallest Production Car, through BBC’s office building.  If you have not, then get out from under the rock and check out the video. Peel is bringing the car back, sadly, only for a limited run of 50.  Though the limited production coming from the Isle of Man in the UK is set to have only 50 cars, it will be split between the P-50 and its sister the Trident.  Instead of the moped engine that was used in the older P-50, Peel is going to used an electric engine to propel the new P-50 to blistering speeds.  It has not been stated that any of the 50 will come across the pond but we can certainly hope.  In parting, I leave you with two questions: Will their be a reverse gear?.. and can you really justify spending £12,499 on the car?

BMW M3 GTS Nürburgring Time

I covered the new M3 GTS a little while back and was extremely excited by the factory build.  A track prepped M3 with roll bars, what more could you ask for?  Well apparently you can ask for some better times around the ‘ring.  The GTS posted a time of 7:48, a respectable time no doubt, but most people were expecting a lot more.  The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, a car twice the cost, post roughly the same time. For comparison sake, the new Nissan GT-R posted a time of 7:29 at half the cost of the GTS.  There is no question that the car is impressive but now it just seems to have you begging for a bit more.  I am more than confident though that these times will not deter the BMW die-hards from picking one up and giving the ‘ring a beating.

Pagani C9… Stateside?

It looks like here in the States, we may be able to get a taste of the Pagani C9, which will debut at the Geneva Motor Show.  Pagani has stated the car will be EPA and DOT certified for the United States.  If that is true, expect to see a few parked out front some South Beach super clubs. Actually, with only 40 being produced each year with a price tag of roughly $1.15 million, be lucky if you see one.

Gemballa is Back

Gemballa seems to have been on hiatus for some time since it’s CEO went “missing” in Africa back in February. Maybe while enjoying the World Cup a few months early, he decided to stay.  Whatever the case may be, Gemballa has a new CEO, a hefty 1 million dollar investment and they are back at it again.  Right now they have roughly 20  employees and are already working on kits for the new Panamera and the Cayenne.  Gemballa is known for some of their one off kits and rare cars like the MIG-U1, a Ferrari Enzo based concept.  Hope to see some more badass stuff coming from these guys.

Worthersee Trailer by Wolfsgruppe/X-nine

All I can say is I love a good teaser.

Porsche Will Be Behind VW’s Sport Cars

It’s official, Porsche will be the provider of VW’s new sport car lineup platform.  Many V.A.G. enthusiasts probably remember the BlueSport concept car that VW produced not too long ago, well Porsche might be able to make it a reality.  What can be better than a VW with a Porsche pedigree?  Porsche is planning on a Modular Standard Platform which would mean the engine would sit directly over the front axles and allow for BOTH longitudinal and transverse motors.  This move could mean a lot for the aftermarket segment but V.A.G. CEO says that it will put them years ahead of the competition.  All I can say is lets get the ball rolling guys.

2013 Morgan EvaGT

Outside the Pebble Beach Concours, Morgan showed off their 2013 Morgan EvaGT.  It was shown in the concept area, and Morgan is saying they will start production in 2012.  Morgan is not the usual auto manufacturer. Their production run will consist of 1 new car every 2 years.  With a new aluminum frame and 306 bhp BMW inline 6 motor, the EvaGT will weigh in around 2700 lbs.  The EvaGT loses the traditional Morgan headlights but still keeps the pre-war aura to it with a long nose and small passenger compartment.  We’re hoping Morgan’s latest release will generate more interest in the brand. It would be a shame for such design prowess go to waste.

Ben Collins: The Stig??

It seems like the Stig’s identity may have finally been revealed.  According Collins Autosport financial statements, Ben Collins’ company has made a significant amount of additional revenue since the ‘White Stig’ was introduced to Top Gear.  It was reported that the reasoning for this pay increase was “driving services rendered to BBC“,  kinda suspicious if you ask me.  Mr. Collins will not comment on the subject but if he is in fact the Stig then why not let him write his autobiography?
