Simply Clean 3

With Julian and Erik in Vegas this past week for SEMA, it left the interns to head up from home base for Simply Clean 3. Myself and Richard took a leisurely cruse up getting to the show “when it opened,” only to find it packed way past capacity. Cruising down line after line of cars to find parking spots, one thing was clear; the Best of the best in Euro and JDM stance showed up to Simply Clean 3.

On the Euro side of things aside from the usual VW MkIV, MKV, and MKVIs, older models were definitely in style. Richard was shocked to find that he wasn’t the only MkII there, but instead he was only one of four and every one of them was done right. Another crazy surprise was a nice ‘stanced’ out Volvo 240 that almost blended in with the collection of BMW 2002′s and E36′s that were featured on the “hard parking” section.

On the JDM front sea foam was in-style. One of the first cars that caught my eye was a slammed civic painted entirely sea foam green with white wheels. While that description may put a bad taste in your mouth I loved it. On top of that, a few Nissans and Hondas were seen rocking the same vibrant colored wheels.  Then there were the usual bad ass JDM race cars: Skylines, S2000s and WRXs all showed up in force and earned our respect for sure. One black Skyline on green Works specifically turned heads as I didn’t see a single person pass buy it without taking a picture with their camera, phone or at the very least mind.

Simply Clean 3 was an awesome show, over flowing with the freshest cars from the JDM and Euro scenes. I can see this show growing with time into an event that is on par if not larger than SoWo, H20 or the other major euro events, as it draws from two huge car crowds. If you’re located in the South East or willing to make the drive, and have an appreciation for all things stance, then Simply Clean certainly would be a show I suggest marking on your calendar for next year.

Oakley Design Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2

(Source: Autoblog)

The race to be first is always important, and Oakley Design has won the race to tune the Aventador. They call it the LP760-2; meaning that it has been upped from 700 to 760 horsepower, and all that power goes to the rear wheels instead of all four. The power increase comes from a few subtle changes, an ECU remap, larger intake, and titanium exhaust system. Partnered with HRE Wheels, Oakley Design had their own 20-inch wheel made to replace the stock 19′s. In the aerodynamics department some of the air vents have been widened, a new deeper diffuser was added, and the mirrors are now housed in carbon fiber. Oakley Design will only build five Aventadors with the full package, but if you want any of the individual parts they will all be sold separately. Overall, the Oakly Design Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2 is a solid package that keeps the essence of the Aventador but has the power boost and aesthetic changes that sets it apart from the norm.

AWE Tuning’s MkVI

(Source: VW Vortex)

AWE Tuning decided to do some tuning work to an MkVI with two goals in mind, be able to keep it a daily driver and only use bolt-on parts. The project started with adding a larger K04- based turbo kit, 2.5-inch turbo-back exhaust, and cold air intake. To improve engine cooling an intercooler was taken from the new Audi S3, which apparently fits right in place. An ECU from GIAC was able to get 350hp out of the new engine on 93-octance gas. Of course the suspension was re-done with a set of Bilstein PSS-10 coilovers, an AWE/H&R “Time Attack” 28-mm adjustable rear sway bar, and a 328-mm big brake kit with calipers from Stoptech. Finally, the wheels were replaced for a set of 17-inch Enkei RPF.1s. The end result is an 11.87-second ¼ mile time, making it the fasted ¼ mile TSI-engine car. AWE Tuning was able to prove their point with this MkVI, you can have one of the fastest cars out there by just using bolt-on parts and still be a daily driver.

BMW M3 Frozen Black

(Source: BMW Blog)

The M3 GTS was limited to a few hundred, but the true 25th anniversary edition is the Frozen Black limited to a fitting 25 cars. With only 8 coming to America, you will be more likely to be hit by lightning than see one on the track or street. So, what makes this limited edition so special? It has a mate black paint job, black leather with read stitching, and gloss black 19″ rims. Then BMW turned to AC Schnitzer for some tuning perfection. AC Schnitzer added a new exhaust, intake, and tuned ECU which will be controlled by BMW’s standard dual clutch transmission  found in the other M3s. Overall, this special BMW M3 Frozen Black looks amazing, and if you happen to see one, you may want to by a lotto ticket because it may be your lucky day.

G-Power BMW M3 GTS

(Source: GT Spirit)

So after months of tuning, the G-Power M3 GTS is finally here. Probably one of the only customers who bought more than one of the special edition M3, G-Power was able to surpass their goal of tuning the car to 600hp. With the help of  a specially designed supercharger and a total rebuild of the engine they were able to force 720hp out of the bright orange M3. This announcement came right out of the garage, so the acceleration and top speed are not known yet. But, it’s gonna be hella fast considering stock the GTS hits 60mph in 4.4 seconds. This BMW M3 GTS is another stellar example of G-Power’s tuning ability, and as more info is released it will all be here.

Project Kahn Audi A5

(Source: Kahn News)

The boys over at Project Kahn, known for their high-end styling of luxury cars, have gone to work on the Audi A5. This kit means business. Included is a full body kit, 21-in RSL wheels, and the “bespoke touch” on the interior. Some of the most notable additions are the rear bumper and diffuser, along with the massive quad exhaust. All those parts add up to a clean professional look. I see this car more for the bad-ass executive, over the boy racer. That idea could come from the £31,875.00 price tag  on the kit, which equates to $51,070.00. No matter who this custom A5 is for, it’s hard to deny Project Kahn turned the Audi A5 from average to aggressive.
