This is one of those cars that you just want to know everything about and then some, the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS has really caught my eye. Simply put, I can’t get enough.

Hybrid 911 GT3 to Race at Road Atlanta

Order your tickets and pack your bags for Road Atlanta, October 2. The American Le Mans Series closer, the Petit Le Mans, will be racing and in the field will be Porsche’s Hybrid 911 GT3 R. Porsche can not acquire any points in the race but they are looking to make a statement. While at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, the car lead most of the race but with only 2 hours left in the race, they had to drop out due to mechanical issues. Regardless if they finished or not, they went the distance and made a statement and now are on their way to Road Atlanta to do it again.

Nose pointed straight for the cliff, full throttle, and full opposite lock on the steering wheel, do you have the testicles? Because Jeff Zwart apparently does. Not only did he make it to the top of Pikes Peak with his Porsche GT3 unscathed, he set a new record for the Time Attack 2WD class. TWO WHEEL DRIVE?!? Balls.

Porsche CEO to Tackle Entry Level Porsche

Come October, Porsche will have a new CEO, Matthias Mueller. When he becomes Porsche AG’s CEO, his task will not be easy because Porsche is trying to increase their sales numbers in the entry level segment. They want to boost numbers from 100,000 to 150,000 by 2013. Currently they have 4 entry level models which are based off the Cayman and the Boxster, but rumors abound that they may have an even more entry level car. It would sit below the Boxster and/or may be a small SUV similar to Volkswagen’s Tiguan. The die hard Porsche enthusiasts do not want to see another entry level Porsche but people that want to own a Porsche would love to see something more affordable with the Porsche name. No matter what it might be, wait to see some new things coming from Porsche to raise their sales numbers.

Pikes Peak Porsche 911 GT3

The second oldest motor sports race in history is held in Colorado Spring; It’s called the “Race to the Clouds“. This year marks the 88th running of the race, a winding 12.42 mile course with 156 turns, asphalt, gravel and dirt with an elevation change of just over 5000 feet. 30% of your race car’s power is lost by the time you reach the top. Needless to say, it’s not an easy race, but Jeff Zwart took a specially prepared Luminox Watch Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car to Pikes Peak and showed the competition a few things. Beating the previous record holder for his Time Attack 2wd Class by 18seconds, you would think he would be content; But nope, he ended up going faster than some of the pole sitters in higher classes!

“This 911 GT3 Cup car seems to perform seamlessly from the bottom to the top of the Hill. I’ve have never been so comfortable driving Pikes Peak, and the speed I can carry into the turns – more than 115 miles-per-hour – is faster than I have ever gone here, and yet I can set up well for the dozens of hairpins which populate the course,” said Zwart.

Porsche is going to be debuting their new 911 GT2 RS this August at the Moscow Auto Show. The new GT2 RS is the fastest and most powerful street legal Porsche of all time. The 3.6l six-cylinder boxer motor has two turbos to put the GT2 at 620hp and does 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. At the Nürburgring, a true test of any German car, the GT2 makes it around in 7 minutes and 18 seconds. This is made possible by the car’s brilliant power to weight ratio which equal 4.9 lbs per horsepower.

Stopping power and handling are nothing short of the Porsche name either; PCCB Porsche Composite Ceramic Brakes, PASM Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management, anti roll bars, etc… The 911 GT2 has carbon-fibre-reinforced components throughout the car to keep the weight down and add to the overall look of this incredible car.

This car will not be for everyone as their will be only 500 sold but those who have the luxury to own and drive one will not be disappointed.
