Last Friday night Erik and I decided to leave the old office and checkout Bizspeed.net’s West Palm Beach Supercar Block Party. Up to Palm Beach we went, finding a block of Clematis Street in Palm Beach shut down and filled up with exactly what you would expect; Supercars. All the usual suspects were present, Nissan GTRs, Dodge Vipers, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Aston Martins.

With the addition of a DJ and cool white lights, we were treated to a party vibe we don’t normally see at shows. The unique lighting gave us the idea to try out some long exposure shots. With people moving around some interesting ghost images were produced that only added to the pictures.

Yes. Amazing. I love watching this video over and over again dreaming of driving a Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 like its stolen. Sorry, I know how sacrilegious this would be in some parts of the world (um, My World!); And in reality, you probably wouldn’t want to take your freshly acquired Aventador out to the nearest dry lake bed and rampage on the throttle pedal, but perhaps in “your reality”, you’re some Arabian Prince who’ll do it for shits and giggles.

As you all know, many people tend to evaluate the design of a fine automobile in the same way they evaluate a beautiful woman. Words like ‘slim waistline’, ‘curvacious lines’, and ’46DD tailpipes’ are flung around all to often when referring to the design of some of today’s automobiles. I believe that some auto’s are better looking in the caboose than they are looking head on. These two euro’s are prime examples of where more attention was clearly paid to the rear end design than to the front, in my opinion. You may disagree with me, and that is O.K. Leaving the side view, the 3/4 view, and the rolling view out of the equation, it is my opinion that I would rather stare for hours at the back end of these euro’s than the nose. Sue me.

The race to be first is always important, and Oakley Design has won the race to tune the Aventador. They call it the LP760-2; meaning that it has been upped from 700 to 760 horsepower, and all that power goes to the rear wheels instead of all four. The power increase comes from a few subtle changes, an ECU remap, larger intake, and titanium exhaust system. Partnered with HRE Wheels, Oakley Design had their own 20-inch wheel made to replace the stock 19′s. In the aerodynamics department some of the air vents have been widened, a new deeper diffuser was added, and the mirrors are now housed in carbon fiber. Oakley Design will only build five Aventadors with the full package, but if you want any of the individual parts they will all be sold separately. Overall, the Oakly Design Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2 is a solid package that keeps the essence of the Aventador but has the power boost and aesthetic changes that sets it apart from the norm.

Lamborghini first showed off the Sesta Elemento at the Paris Motor Show last year. This beast will be the next limited run car, like the Reventon was in 2008. The supercar will have a weight of only 2,200 pounds and be powered by the Gallardo’s 5.2-liter V10, then tuned for some extra power. This will make the Sesto Elemento go from 0-62 in 2.5 seconds which is .4 seconds faster than the Aventador released earlier this year. These .4 seconds come at a very high price of 2 million euros (2.8 million dollars), but that will put you in quite an exclusive group. Lamborghini has said, like the Reventon they will only produce 20 examples of their new super car. Although, rumor has it, the Sesta Elemento will be limited to the just track because of homologation procedures for road use that would drive the cost up even higher (crazy right?). So, it would seem that 20 may be just the right number of people who would be willing to spend 2.8 million on the Sesto Elemento, because most people who buy a Lamborghini want to take it out on the street.
