The new BMW M3 has had plenty of special editions with limited production runs such as the Frozen Gray and Tiger Editions to name a few. Now the Aussies will have an edition of their own called the Pure Edition. Accented with Gloss Black 19″ wheels, grill and exhaust tips, it’s not that a dramatic change, but a nice subtle one. This particular model is not color specific which is odd as it is available in mainly Alpine white and Jerez Black, but it can also be ordered in Le Mans Blue, Silverstone, Space Grey, Melbourne Red, Mineral White and Interlagos Blue. Quite a lot of color options for a car they will only be making 50 of at a price of $135,000.

I covered the new M3 GTS a little while back and was extremely excited by the factory build. A track prepped M3 with roll bars, what more could you ask for? Well apparently you can ask for some better times around the ‘ring. The GTS posted a time of 7:48, a respectable time no doubt, but most people were expecting a lot more. The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, a car twice the cost, post roughly the same time. For comparison sake, the new Nissan GT-R posted a time of 7:29 at half the cost of the GTS. There is no question that the car is impressive but now it just seems to have you begging for a bit more. I am more than confident though that these times will not deter the BMW die-hards from picking one up and giving the ‘ring a beating.

Accomplishing 231 mph in a big full-size sedan is no easy task but G-Power has made it happen. Their 800hp RR kit is, unfortunately, not available to the public; However, their RS kit capable of 750hp is… Just bring a check for ~$71,000. Aero kit and the tires required to withstand those high speeds, not included in price.

On display at a BMW dealership in Germany, they have a cutaway comparison of a Run Flat tire and a normal tire. As many of you know, the Run Flat tires are reinforced so that the car can still be driven even if the tire has gone flat. The tire can be run on for an average of 50 miles. It’s not made to take a long trip on but it will get you to the closest tire shop. Often times cars that come with run flats do not even come with a spare, such as with MINI Coopers. Here is a photo comparison of the two tires side by side. The Run Flat is the tire on the bottom.

If it was a Euro only car, we could understand but Japan only? BMW will not be heavily producing this car, only 30 examples will be made. The 120i will have a 2.0l 170bhp motor with a 6 speed auto and many M-Sport extras, such as: front bumper, carbon fiber mirrors and spoiler, blacked out grille, aluminum pedals and a few other interior pieces. Interesting to see that BMW is making Japan only cars. What’s next?

BMW has seen very profitable gains from their used car section and has decided to do restorations and the re-manufacturing of old and hard to find parts. The restoration they did on the ’72 CSi was impressive considering that they also changed the transmission from manual to automatic. Let’s hope BMW will bring something like this stateside.

Once you get beyond the orange paint of this new M3 GTS, you start to realize that this is a track ready, full blown M3. The engineers made sure this was nothing but M with weight savings at every corner and an addition of power. The GTS doesn’t have a radio. It doesn’t have air conditioning or anything of that matter. What you do get is a factory tuned BMW M3 made for the track. Lightweight racing seats, racing harness and an integrated roll cage are included. The massive brake system will get you stopped with 6 pistons up front complimented with 4 in the rear. Down-force and handling are all adjustable with a coil over system and adjustable front splitter and wing. This car is not a daily driver but will be an amazing car on and off the track. We can only wait to see what kind of times it puts down around the Nürburgring.

With the recently spotted Audi RS3 being testing on the ‘Ring’, BMW is planning a weapon of its own. Technically not a hot hatch, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe is destined to be compared to Audi’s newest RennSport addition. If you’ve ever experienced a tuned boosted 135i, this factory tuned M coupe is bound to just set the bar higher, no pun intended.
