2012 M5 Teasers

The camouflage doesn’t hide much so we now have an idea of how the new M5 will actually look. The pictures even give us an idea of what motor is going in, a 4.4L V8 with direct injection and twin turbos. No HP or torque numbers have been published that we could find but hopes are for around 600bhp. The rear doesn’t look to be finished but we hope its something aggressive for the M5.

BMW M3 GTS

Once you get beyond the orange paint of this new M3 GTS, you start to realize that this is a track ready, full blown M3.  The engineers made sure this was nothing but M with weight savings at every corner and an addition of power.  The GTS doesn’t have a radio. It doesn’t have air conditioning or anything of that matter. What you do get is a factory tuned BMW M3 made for the track.  Lightweight racing seats, racing harness and an integrated roll cage are included.  The massive brake system will get you stopped with 6 pistons up front complimented with 4 in the rear. Down-force and handling are all adjustable with a coil over system and adjustable front splitter and wing.  This car is not a daily driver but will be an amazing car on and off the track.  We can only wait to see what kind of times it puts down around the Nürburgring.

BMW 1 Series M Coupe Pocket Rocket

Let the pocket rocket wars begin. With the recently spotted Audi RS3 being testing on the ‘Ring’, BMW is planning a weapon of its own. Technically not a hot hatch, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe is destined to be compared to Audi’s newest RennSport addition. If you’ve ever experienced a tuned boosted 135i, this factory tuned M coupe is bound to just set the bar higher, no pun intended.

Don’t Wax Your M3

This might sound as strange to you as much as it does to me, but if you have a Frozen Gray E92 M3, DO NOT wax your car.  If you wax the car, BMW is saying that it will ruin the finish of the paint.  It is so unique that waxing it will give the car a glossy surface and take away from the overall shine.  BMW makes you even sign off that they are not responsible for any negligence towards the paint.  Have fun you Frozen Gray guys.

ALMS BMW M3

Downforce is crucial in any form of racing be it Nascar or LeMans.  Aero kits and spoilers can make or break a drivers chance to get on the podium; simply put a good aero kit will allow you to hold a few more miles-per-hour through a corner and that could mean passing the guy in front of you.  In the ALMS, BMW has recently had their regulations changed and it has hurt them drastically.  Their big V8’s are having issues keeping all the power down.  Last year they lost their dive planes up front due to the regulations going from GT2S to GT2.

The BMW team is going to be testing and trying to get approval for their new Eurospec LeMans body kit; it features brand new front, rear and side sections as well as redesigned wheel arches.  BMW hopes that this will increase the cars’ downforce and reduce drag.  We all hope so because BMW has been struggling to try and make a podium finish in the extremely competitive GT class.

MINI Diesel

Later this year the new face lifted MINI’s will be rolling out onto the roads.  Most of the changes are fairly minimal at best but ALL MINI’s will now have the option between two different diesel motors.  The MINI Cooper D will be the fastest out of the two doing 0-60 in a blistering 9.7 seconds with 112hp and 199 lb-ft of torque.  These numbers might not be too impressive but 74mpg surely is.  BMW AG built the motors out of aluminum to keep weight down and in turn make these cars handle and be very nimble.  The Clubman and Convertible have numbers below what the Cooper D has but it will be sure to sell well with 74mpg.

BMW M3 GT2 Art Car

Sometimes a car comes along that is so unique that you have to just sit there and admire the car for the work put into it.  This BMW Art Car is the 17th of its kind since 1975 when the first BMW Art Car was debuted.  Jeff Koons was the man that designed the M3 GT2.  While he did design the car he also got to drive the car around the Sebring race track in Florida where he said he witnessed, “the raw unfiltered performance” of the GT2.  Just take a look at this M3 and ask yourself,  do you love it or do you hate it?
