In the world of custom interiors, every year there seems to be a new trend. Every time I flip open a custom car magazine, I see a new innovative product or textile to wrap your seats with. From various animal skins to different industrial fabrics, I’ve seen pretty much everything done to the interior of an automobile. Fridge installations, fish tanks, fuzzy dice, and televisions larger than the one hanging in my house. It’s crazy what people will do these days to take it to the next level.

Some things, in my opinion, don’t always need evolution. The Audi TT convertible was one of the first production vehicles to feature a leather baseball glove interior, and there have been many imposters since. There is none like the original. The Original Gansta did it best. Thick stitching accents similar to that of a catchers mitt, beautifully tanned leather, and a supple smooth texture that you could sit in for hours. The kind of leather seats that only get better with time.
We all know that what you put on the end of your spindles plays a major part in setting your ride off from the crowds. In the current trend of just slap some Rotiforms on your ride and call it a day, I was quite surprised to see the plethora of variety of wheels being rocked at this year’s tremendously infamous H2O. Hope you enjoy the joint obliterating knee positions we had to endure to capture these: lol.

H2O International is now behind us and all we have to say is BRAVO!
Another great event that no one on the East Coast should miss. It has become the pilgrimage of a typhoon of VW’s, Audi’s, BMW’s, Mercedes’s, Honda’s, Mazda’s, Subaru’s, Volvo’s?… my point being, the city of Ocean City, MD is taken by storm. Everywhere you look, in every hotel parking lot, every restaurant, in every nook and cranny, you will find some derivative of a slammed, wheeled up, crazy painted, cambered out, stretched, poked, bagged, coiled, stickered, HID’d vehicle. You have to see it to believe it. And we’re not talking about a few blocks; No, we are talking about a 10 mile stretch of pavement littered with the hustle & bustle of pieces of artwork shuttling back and forth stopping for the occasional spur of the moment, this empty parking lot will suffice, GTG (GetToGether for the newbs;)
Definitely, definitely mark your calendars for this event next year…
Looks like DTM is heating up for 2012. With the recent unveiling of BMW’s M3 DTM, Audi has decided to release their conquering Audi A4 DTM replacement with the new Audi A5 DTM (code name: R17). It will be exciting to see if BMW can challenge the Audi’s which have dominated the series since 2004.

Love’em or hate’em pickup truck conversions are becoming more popular in the euro community. Now, the Audi Q7 has joined the ranks of cars hacked, slashed and welded back into an Americanized euro auto. While some call such a transformation blasphemy, I believe this Q7 pickup is an awesome project. I can’t imagine how daunting it must be to chop-up a $50,000 car, totally reshape it, and hope everything will be okay in the end. The guys responsible for this job should be proud. They produced a clean car that looks like it could be sitting in an Audi show room. Not to mention this means there is one less F-150 on the road. (Ed. LOL)
