The guys over at Evolution Motorsports (EVOMS), the current Standing Mile record holder for the World’s Fastest Porsche, are going to try and hit 250mph at the Texas Mile in October. EVOMS hit 231 previously with only 920 bhp and the car bounced off the rev limiter for the last 150feet with no added aerodynamics. Now you may or not remember but on EVOMS’ Summer Tour, their trailer had a slight accident that resulted in the roof of the 997 TT being damaged. What EVOMS did was completely scrap the roof andwill be installing a full cage along with a skinned GT2 roof. This will add in rigidity and weight savings for the 250mph goal. EVOMS also plans to add more aerodynamics, as well as, tweak the motor. Instead of the limiter at 7k EVOMS plans to bump it up to 9k. Now 920bhp is just not enough to break 250 but with 300 more bhp it’s going to be close. Can’t wait to see what this Porsche can do.

The United States has put into place a law that requires better fuel economy from all cars being sold in the U.S. and Porsche is no exception. By 2016 every new car should must achieve a fuel efficiency of 41mpg. A hefty goal for Porsche to achieve because they currently are around 27mpg. While Porsche ALREADY pays the U.S. for not reaching American Fuel Efficiency Standards, they will have to pay much more come 2016. To put into perspective, the average customer now pays $100 extra on a new Porsche, but come 2016, it will be somewhere around the $37,000 mark. The question is what Porsche will do; Will they offer the Cayenne and Panamera in hybrid versions? Will they sell something similar as the Volkswagen UP? or offer more diesels? After they rifle through those questions, they must then ask themselves, will the U.S. welcome with open arms these new models? I mean, as any Euro enthusiasts knows, we already have the bottom of the bucket when it comes to European breed cars.

BMW has announced that it will be shutting down production of the BMW M6, a car that has done quite well in the United States. Some people out there will miss the car but at the same time many may not, as its always been a hate it or love it car. With either a hardtop or convertible option, it was an all around great car with a screaming V10 behind it; Who could hate it? Not only was it an a great car on the streets, it did equally well around the track as seen in many GT class races.
Going bye-bye, along with the M6, is the 8,250 red-line V10 that pushes the M5 and M6. BMW is opting to use a smaller motor with the addition of forced induction much like many of the other car manufacturers are doing today. Years from now will there even be a naturally aspirated sports cars?

So after Hellaflush Remix on July 30th at the Sun Life Stadium, we decided to go for a small drive down to the South Beach area for some food and drinks. Needless to say, we took the opportunity to take some sick rollers since both cars were clean and looking good. On a side note, when I first saw the pictures of Marcela’s MKIV Jetta all I could think was how “wet” her car looked. Probably had something to do with the wax it got the night before.
The new BMW M3 has had plenty of special editions with limited production runs such as the Frozen Gray and Tiger Editions to name a few. Now the Aussies will have an edition of their own called the Pure Edition. Accented with Gloss Black 19″ wheels, grill and exhaust tips, it’s not that a dramatic change, but a nice subtle one. This particular model is not color specific which is odd as it is available in mainly Alpine white and Jerez Black, but it can also be ordered in Le Mans Blue, Silverstone, Space Grey, Melbourne Red, Mineral White and Interlagos Blue. Quite a lot of color options for a car they will only be making 50 of at a price of $135,000.

Finally, race promoter Tavo Hellmund has revealed what the F1 track in Austin, Texas will look like. Slated to have its first race in 2012, we can only hope that construction gets started in the next few months. The 3.4 mile long track itself has 20 turns, 133 feet of elevation change and a 3/4 mile long straight where the F1 cars should be able to reach about 200 mph. Many of the turns resemble other tracks from around the world such as Silverstone, Hockenheim, and even the multi apex turn at Istanbul’s track. The track is shaping up to be a great track and we can only hope that it lives up to its name. I am sure that I will be there to see the inaugural race, will you be?

TechArt, a leading tuner for Porsche, has released their Noselife System, commonly known as Nose Assist Coilovers for the Porsche Boxster and Cayman. Everyone with a sports car, especially Porsches know all to well about the garage inclines and speed bumps that tear away at the front lips and under carriages of their prized cars. What TechArt has done with their Noselift System, which is essentially a set of coilovers, is allow the front coils to be hydraulically raised up to 60mm to clear the pesky bumps and inclines around town. Overall a great package and a necessity for any car lover that wants to lower their car with the ride of coils but be able to go up at the push of a button. Full Press Release
