Unbelievable Track Day

(Source: L4P)

Generally, a track day consists of anywhere from a dozen to two-dozen cars taking over a race track to let loose. There may be one hyper car like a Bugatti, a few supercars, and the rest are track ready run of the mill sports cars. The SIC club in China does things a little bit bigger. The video below shows off the start to one of their events, and the only word I can come up with to describe the line-up is ‘unbelievable’. Three (3) Bugatties, an Aston Martin one-77, a Koenigsegg CCX, and a Zonda R made up the first of what seems like 50 rows of spectacular cars. I can only imagine what it would have been like to be at this unbelievable track day.

“Cars That Make You Cool”

(Source: Forbes)

“Cars That Make You Cool” is the title of a new article up on Forbes.com. I thought they must be kidding, but no. This article is the most stereotypical rich businessman’s guide to cool, it just says buy an expensive car. Forbes brought in expert, Ray Wert editor-in-chief of Jalopnik, who gave the words of wisdom. “Basically any Italian car will make you cool—with the exception of a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, those brands are so overplayed.” What does he suggests instead? Pretty much every other Italian car shown at Geneva this year. If you have to be told “what’s cool” then you don’t deserve one of these cars. These are the types of cars you should aspire to own since you were a boy. And owning one should be a moment of great accomplishment and joy. “Cars that will make you cool” is a laughable article of the most stereotypical cool cars out there.

Cheating Death

(Source: Jalopnik)

Early this week a Pagani Zonda F driver had the luxury of cheating death. The $1.5 million dollar car spun out of control, then hit a wall doing 199 mph on Italy’s A20 Autostrada. It then flipped over and slid into the Mercedes it was racing. What’s miraculous about this high-speed crash is that both drivers and the passenger in the Mercedes all left the accident unharmed. What saved the Zonda F driver was the carbon composite cockpit housing. What’s to remember here is that although these three guys were lucky, most people are not. Cheating death is a rarity, and we should all keep racing on the track.

Pagani C9 Spotted

Pagani has long been a staple in the supercar business with the Pagani Zonda being immensely successful in impressing drivers all over the world. Rumors are that the Pagani C9 will be much closer to the 1000 horsepower mark than its sister the Zonda. I can not wait to see what it really looks like outside of that cladding, but more importantly what kind of power it’s putting to the road.

Razor sharp handling and a strung out Mercedes V12 is what it takes to beat a Ferrari 599xx on the Nurburgring if you were wondering.

Pagani C9… Stateside?

It looks like here in the States, we may be able to get a taste of the Pagani C9, which will debut at the Geneva Motor Show.  Pagani has stated the car will be EPA and DOT certified for the United States.  If that is true, expect to see a few parked out front some South Beach super clubs. Actually, with only 40 being produced each year with a price tag of roughly $1.15 million, be lucky if you see one.

Pagani “Needs” the Nürburgring

In this video documentary produced by Pagani, they speak of how the Ring is crucial to developing and testing their cars.  The track tests the very limits of any car due to the high speeds endured throughout the track.  Pagani’s Zonda R did the Nürburgring in what seemed an effortless 6:47, who knows what they could manage if they actually tried.

For those XBox360 Grand Tourismo desk jockeys, the track is all too familiar, Nurburgring. I highly recommend 720p full screen… sex!
