Moscow 500+ Documentary

(Source: Jalopnik)

The Moscow 500+ isn’t really on anyone’s radar unless you live in Russia, but this new documentary on YouTube may change all of that. The Moscow 500+ or the Unlim 500+ as they call it in the video is a drag event similar to the Texas Mile, but instead of being on a open runway like they do in Texas this Moscow event is held on a drag strip in the woods. That doesn’t seem to stop a sizable group of luxury car owners from going head to head to throw down the fastest mile and 1/4 mile times. 1st place was a huge surprise to me, going to a tuned Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 with a 1/4 mile time of 9.734 seconds, 2nd place was a Nissan GT-R R35 which had a time of 9.904 seconds, and it’s not until 5th place do we see the famous Bugatti Veryon putting up a time of 10.129 seconds. The Documentary is about 50 minutes and covers the whole event really well. I’m thinking a trip to Russia just got added to the long list of car events to attend.

Targa Tasmania 2011

A few weeks ago was the ending to the world famous Targa Tasmania Rally held all over the island of Tasmania. The five day event has a total of 47 races 9 each day moving from checkpoint to checkpoint. Porsche has videos up with summaries of all five days of the event. The event has multiple division from Modern to Early Classic. This year the Modern division winner was Tony Quinn in a Nissan GT-R, Late Classic went to Duane Rodgers in a 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera, and Early Classic was won by Jack Waldron in a 1955 Fiat Abarth 750 . On all accounts Targa Tasmania looked to be another great tarmac rally event.

Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance Video

As the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance comes to a close today, BMW has posted two videos that give us a small glimpse of what the show had to offer. As I was not able to attend this one, seeing the cars in 720p is better than nothing. Sure these videos are a bit of advertisement for BMW but who cares, they still show off some amazing rides. This was the last Concours in Florida for a while. The next one will be in Winter Park, Florida on the 5th and 6th of November this year. If you didn’t get a chance to attend the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, mark your calender for Winter Park, and enjoy the video.
