PeakVAG Only Air

PeakVAG, a Volkswagen Audi car club based in the UK, came out with a sweet new video called Only Air.Guess the title is pretty self explanatory; All the cars are on bags. What sticks out the most for me are the great locations used for the video and a sick Audi A3. The Audi is done in a color scheme of charcoal gray with cherry red wheels, something not seen too often and super noticeable. The other videos from PeakVAG are cool too as they feature cars that we never really get to see in the U.S. Videos with such high production value are few and far between so enjoy this gem, Only Air from PeakVAG.

V2 Labs Audi A4 Video

V2 Labs’ Jordan Donnelly has put together an awesome video of an Audi A4. The car is on bags, de-badged, and has a nice set of Rotiform BLQs. Overall a clean B7 Audi A4 video done by fellow blog V2 Labs.

Subaru WRX STI vs. Audi RS3 vs. Ford Focus RS vs. Ferrari Enzo??

Yes that’s not a typo, some crazy writer over at EVO Magazine decided to compare a Ford Focus RS Mountune, a Subaru WRX STI Spec C, the new Audi RS3, and the totally out of place Ferrari Enzo. A comparison of just those hatches would be cool as none of them are available in the U.S., but throw in a Enzo and it makes everything more interesting. The title of the article appearing in the new issue of EVO is “Enzo Killers” and while we all know the hatches are not faster than the Enzo on paper, it would not surprise me if they make the claim that they are just as fun to drive. The hatches hit 60 in the upper four low five second range, while the Ferrari powers to 60 in only 3.4 seconds. So the question is, does that 1.5ish second difference really matter? The teaser video that’s online for the article shows the cars driving around the mountains in the south of France with the hot hatches not too far behind the Enzo. So who do you think will win in the battle of Subaru WRX STI vs. Audi RS3 vs. Ford Focus RS vs. Ferrari Enzo? Comment on the Facebook page and let us know.

Audi Quattro Might Be Produced

(Source: Autoblog.com)

Might is the key word, but rumors from Audi say that they are taking steps that may allow a new Quattro to be produced. Shown at the Paris Motor Show last year, the concept turned a lot of heads. Audi’s Quattro division, the section responsive for their quicker S, RS, and R8 projects have been working on the  Quattro prototype. The prototype is reported to have a 5-cylinder turbo engine, all wheel drive, and extensive bodywork using carbon fiber and aluminum which has it weighing in 500 lbs less than the R8. Everything about his car seems promising so now Audi’s board members are going to drive the car some time soon and determine if it will have further development for production. Who knows, maybe if Audi relaunches their rally car it will encourage them to return to rally racing.

Audi previews two new cars

(Source: Autoblog via Autocar)

Sketches recently hit the internet previewing two new Audi models. First we saw drawings of an R8 GT Spyder. Not a whole lot different between  Spyder and coupe. The two will have the same V10 engine, six-speed automated manual transmission, 560-horsepower, upgraded brakes, carbon fiber bits, spoiler, and rear splitter. So the only difference is the lack of a roof and a top speed of 193 mph instead of the coupe’s 199 mph. The next set of sketches were for their new three-door A3 hatchback. Although at Geneva the A3 was shown as a sedan, it seems that Audi got cold feet when it came to releasing the A3 as a sedan first. Reports that came with the sketch say that their release order will be a three-door first then five-door followed by the sedan and convertible. With Audi’s previews just being sketches, we probably won’t see these two new cars hit the streets until some time in 2013

Pole to Pole Expedition

(Source: Autoblog)

Driving across the country, walking the Appalachian trail or sailing around the world are all ambitious tasks, but traveling from North to South Pole, that’s unheard of. Bad Ass Explorer Johan Ernst Nilson had decided to take on the 12,000 mile task in just 12 months, and he is going all carbon-neutral. Nilson plans to make the trip in six parts using skis, dog sled, sail boat, bike and kite-sled. Audi has stepped in to help Nilson on his journey providing an ultralight-weight sled, access to Audi’s test facilities and an Audi Q5 which will be used as a support car for any issues he may run into on his journey. At Audi’s testing facilities he will be able to make sure all his equipment will stand up to harsh Arctic conditions. Audi’s partnership with Nilson is suppose to show their commitment to environmental responsiblity and goal of being carbon-neutral.  Good luck to Johan Nilson on his Pole to Pole expedition, but I think just taking an R8 may be faster.

Hardwood Audi Bicycles

(Source: Renovo)

While McLaren is going high-tech, it seems Audi is going natural with a new line of hardwood Bicycles. In a partnership with Renovo (a bike company that makes strictly wooden-framed bikes), Audi decided to make a green statement to go along with their energy conscious stance. There are three different styles of hand-made bikes that will be produced during the limited run, the duoCity, duoSport, and duoRoad priced at $6,530, $7,350, and $7,460 respectively. Apparently, a wood frame is 75% lighter than aluminum used in comparable bikes, and is able to maintain the same level of durability. The wood selected for the bikes is the same as the wood used in the dashboards of the cars for a little cross product action. These hand-made hardwood bicycles are a magnificent mixture of new bike technology and classic Audi styling.

Project Kahn Audi A5

(Source: Kahn News)

The boys over at Project Kahn, known for their high-end styling of luxury cars, have gone to work on the Audi A5. This kit means business. Included is a full body kit, 21-in RSL wheels, and the “bespoke touch” on the interior. Some of the most notable additions are the rear bumper and diffuser, along with the massive quad exhaust. All those parts add up to a clean professional look. I see this car more for the bad-ass executive, over the boy racer. That idea could come from the £31,875.00 price tag  on the kit, which equates to $51,070.00. No matter who this custom A5 is for, it’s hard to deny Project Kahn turned the Audi A5 from average to aggressive.
