2012 Beetle

We have all seen the commercials and spy shots but April 18, 2011 is the day that the 2012 Beetle was officially debuted. Volkswagen did a good job with the redesign, it’s no longer a total chick car. The longer less bubbly body, and lower more aggressive stance gives the Beetle a lot more potential. One surprise from the press release, the turbo model will get a much more sporty interior with a faux carbon fiber dash and a separate pod group with a boost gauge replacing the sunflower from the old model. Little touches like that mean Volkswagen realize the Beetle can be for men too. There will be a basic 2.5L five cylinder and a 2.0L TDI version but the one we really care about is the 2.0L TSI. The Turbo will have the standard 200hp and 207 lb-ft of torque getting a estimated 30 mpg. From the info we have so far this 2012 Beetle looks promising if you want to read the full press release check it out here.
